Shopping Road Trip :: Davis Downtown’s Annual Sidewalk Sale

It’s the second weekend of July and that means one thing in Davis – the Downtown Davis Sidewalk Sale.  While sweltering heat usually accompanies the sale dates, this year we’re going to be enjoying cool weather, perfect for a shopping road trip to Davis.

Whether you live nearby and look forward to the sale each year or you’re taking a road trip, the Sidewalk Sale is always a fun event filled with bargains and treasures.
If you haven’t shopped downtown Davis, you’ll find it is home to an interesting mix of shops.  Here are some of our faves:
Haute Again
129 E Street

Well of course!  Haute Again is a destination consignment shop featuring a well edited inventory of boutique quality items at great prices.
If you’ve been following Haute Again online, this weekend is a great time to take a short drive, pop in, say hello and pick up a fun piece. You’ll receive 20% off your entire purchase. YES!
When you’re finished shopping walk across the street to:
Found
132 E Street in Mansion Square
unnamed
Found is an amazing treasure trove tucked into a thumbnail sized shop.  Don’t let the size of the shop fool you – here you’ll find one-of-a-kind French and English antique jewelry, interesting textiles and ephemera.  Each object has a fascinating story.
Riki
202 E Street
Since 1992, Riki has been showcasing “a European look and feel that is stylish yet comfortable, youthful but not too trendy, chic yet affordable.” Ursula’s boutique has been a destination for Northern California women of style since 1992, showcasing modern, urban designs and accessories.
Pinkadot
238 E Street
unnamed-1
Also on E Street, Pinkadot is perhaps best known for jeans.  From Citizens of Humanity to Joe’s Jeans to Mother Denim – this is the place to find the perfect pair with the perfect fit.  They also have a great selection of bags, belts, and jewlery.
Shu Shu
227 E Street
unnamed-2
Tucked behind Chipotle and across from Peets, this newcomer to the Davis downtown scene carries interesting, of the moment pieces.   You’ll also find unusual scarves, shoes and boots.
Right now we’re coveting this gauzy jacket.
Sole Desire
801 2nd Street
Located one block from the Amtrak station, the Davis location of the European comfort shoe mini-chain always features an overflowing bargain table during the Sidewalk Sale.
Now that you’ve been shopping you’re going to be hungry.  Here are some of our favorite places to grab a bite:
Sophia’s Thai Kitchen
sophias-food-composition-01
Conveniently located next to Haute Again, Sophia’s is the place to go for Thai in Davis, not to mention they pour the best drinks. WooHoo!
Zen Toro
In Mansion Square, across from Found, you’ll find authentic Japanese food, innovative sushi, and lovely presentation.
Crepeville
330 3rd Street
Our favorite spot for a salad.  If you’re a tofu fan, top your salad with their smoked tofu.  So good, so addictive we call it “crack tofu.”
You’ve been warned.
Cultive
Next door to Peets.  Because you know you’re going to need a fro-yo before you hit the road at the end of the day.
